It started with a kiss…

Okay so perhaps nothing else really happened between Britney Spears and Madonna after the infamous kiss, however it’s a different story when it comes to real romance. The importance of a kiss may often be overlooked.

Most men see kissing simply as a gateway to sex, women on the other hand evaluate a man by the way he kisses. Many women in fact actually state that unless the guy is a good kisser it’s going to take him quite a while to get her into bed. This is because most women are stimulated faster by kissing than any other physical activity.
So now if every romance starts with a kiss, shouldn’t that be enough to depict the importance of this act?

A lot of men wouldn’t confess this but initially the way a girl kisses is very important to us too. Perhaps because it’s really in a man’s subconscious. I guess it gives us an indication on how passionate she is, which would then possibly translate to her bedroom skills. As a relationship develops it seems that many men somewhat lose interest in kissing and would much rather move straight on to sex, in contrast to women who continue to make kissing a priority.

I believe kissing is essential to maintain a healthy relationship, and the minute it begins to feel unnecessary then obviously something’s wrong.

  1. I think kissing is very important to any relationship. A kiss can mean many things, depending on the type of kiss. A brief kiss can tease and say "I want you to think about later tonight". Or a lingering kiss full of passion can say "I want it now" But it can also convey how one feels about the other. Kissing doesn't always have to lead to sex, it can be nice to just kiss and cuddle. I do enjoy kissing. A kiss can be given anywhere.
It helps make the connection between two people sizzle.I have had a relationship where he thought that kissing wasn't important anymore. I'm not with him anymore.
If you need someone to kiss Andrei, I'd be happy to oblige. :)

  3. I agree with everything you said quite eloquently. You really are a romantic.

I was teasing about finding inspiration, but after reading your post I realized I actually did find that inspiration--although not in the obvious way (meaning you--not Britany and Madonna. ;) )

I'm 100 pages into my current novel & my hero & heroine haven't kissed yet. Not something I'd given conscious thought to until reading your post. That's a bit of an oddity for me as I like strong sexual chemistry in my stories. But it's all about the people (uhm, characters) When I examined why my hero & heroine had yet to kiss, it really gave me insight into their characterization. THANK YOU.

Of course, it's also raised the pressure on making sure I nail that first kiss scene...

  4. It's all true. If a guy kisses like a slobbering puppy dog, he's not getting much further. Lack of technique = fail.

Also, a lack of kissing smacks of prostitution, since many prostitutes supposedly won't kiss on the lips while on hire. Not quite the message you want to be on the receiving end of...

  6. I have to agree that kissing is to women an all tell sign of how responsive a man is or can be. A sloppy wet kiss in my book is repulsive, sorry guys....if I wanted my face licked i'd get a dog. I've never ever went any farther with a guy after a wet kiss.

A slow/sensual or a heated passionate kiss now is the bomb. It tells me that the man is on track in the area of making love and will get my motor running quick. He just might make the next round with me, as long as he don't look like that dog giving the doggy kisses...

  9. First kisses are so very important. I agree with anonymous.
And if he doesn't sweep you off your feet with that first kiss....I think it best to wait for the one who does.

  10. I found a very nice tribute by somebody to his love. The link to this site is: http://darkdimitry.webs.com/tributetomylove.htm

The best line that I like in that tribute is:

"If kisses were poison, I would choose to die."

I know it's cheesy, but I like it just the same.

  11. Yay for Janice Lynn - I'm so sick of novels that have the couple all over each other by chapter two ... enough with the thrusting organs already.

And for kissing? My husband was the best kisser I ever met. The moment his lips met mine I was a goner ... and so was he. So why is it, 16 years later, it's like pulling teeth to get him to lock lips?

  12. Oh my goodness!!! I so agree!!! Kissing is such a passionate expression. I adore kissing and when a man cannot kiss it really is the biggest turn off. For me, when kissing chymestry is good or amazing everything else falls in place. Also, I totally agree that after sometime men start to just "get to the point" instead of taking the time that they used too. Why is that? When it starts off with more passion and ends in amazment why slack off later on??? Hmmm...

Anyway, I love this blog Andre!

  13. Amen, Brother. Kissing is still the way my hubby gets me in the sack, after 10yrs he is still THE best kisser I ever locked lips with.

We try for at least 1 10second kiss a day, it was homework for a relationship show on Oprah and it works. It inevitably leads to a 30 second kiss which inevitably leads to mommy and daddy having 'an important conversation' behind locked doors while the kids watch Clone Wars!
