Priorities…

Well we have all heard this word over and over, but how often do we stop and contemplate the priorities in our life? What are the fundamentals and what should be on the top of our priority list?

Many people claim to have different priorities in their life but then very few people seem to be totally satisfied if their love life is lacking. So what does that tell you, shouldn't love really be the priority?

We all go through stages in our life and it’s very often a cycle, however I feel many people, especially those involved in somewhat of a long term relationship tend to place their love life on the back burner way too often. This is predominantly a guy thing, but not exclusively.

Many times the dispute seems to be over the fact that men claim they have a responsibility to provide a living for themselves and their significant other. Although it is essential to have a decent income to live well it becomes a little pointless when the process of generating that income is shattering everything else in your life.

So what is the secret to live a good all round life? The secret is learning what’s really important to you. Discovering what really makes a difference to your everyday life and placing them on the top of your priority list. I guess it’s really a matter of striking a balance.

  1. Yes, the secret is learning what is important to you and placing that on top. I agree.

Our priorities can change though. So what is on top of that list five years ago may not be what is most important now. It's important to revisit and ask ourselves what has changed and why and be aware of whether we are living life fully and in line with what is important to us.

  3. Yes my friend, balance is a cornerstone of everything we should do. Knowing who we are as a person, and how we feel about ourselves set the stage for how we handle relationships and priorities, and how we will feel about each of these things. You are very wise indeed. Blessings and light to you. Namaste

  4. it seems so true that we spend our lives trying to gain the "good life" and it comes at the price of the lose of intimacy...do you have any suggestions?

  6. I agree that priorities change. My children were high on my list when they were younger. As adults, they've moved down the food chain a bit. :)

I also agree about balance, though things come up that upset balance easily. Now I've settled on having harmony in my life. When the unexpected crops up, I fold those things into the harmony of life instead of angsting over them.

  9. Life Changes, Priorities Change...
I believe that priorities should align with ones happiness, for life is short if we spend all out time planning and placing un-meaningful things as priorities we waste life.

  10. I agree with the others on the fact that priorities change over the years and balance is the key. But sometimes our relationship with our significant other does take a back burner without realizing it. Revisiting our priorities on a regular basis would help keep everything in balance mentally, physically, and spiritually.
